DTAAs are bilateral tax treaties India signs with other countries to prevent double taxation. They also facilitate information exchange about taxpayers. Under the Black Money Act, DTAAs enable the Indian government to detect and pursue undisclosed foreign income and assets by accessing bank and investment data from treaty countries.
