    Impersonation in benami transactions occurs when someone purchases property using a false identity or documents to hide the real owner?s name. This misrepresentation aims to disguise the actual source of funds or ownership. Under the Act, such actions constitute fraud and can attract severe penalties, including imprisonment and confiscation of the property involved.
