Provisional Attachment
-
Provisional attachment is a temporary legal seizure of property suspected to be benami. The Initiating Officer may attach it for 90 days, with Adjudicating Authority’s approval, to prevent transfer or disposal. This safeguard maintains status quo during investigation and ensures the property remains available for final action, such as adjudication or confiscation.

Before someone is formally declared an FEO, the ED may provisionally attach assets to prevent them from being sold or transferred. This temporary seizure helps preserve assets during investigation and court proceedings.
